The Cove’s Head Chef, Atul Dogra,
talks Christmas in July.
“There’s a different vibe when we do Christmas in winter. The food is hearty and filling – I’m looking forward to cooking it but also enjoying it with my friends and family”
Christmas food means different things to different people, what do you love about it?
I love that it brings friends and family together, with lots of fun and joy. Christmas, like many traditions around the world, is celebrated around food. What better way to enjoy such occasions!
The Christmas in July menu was a collaboration between quite a few Pegasus Leisure Group Chefs, how did you come up with it?
It was definitely a joint effort that all the amazing Chefs in the group put together. There was lots of taste testing, perfecting the recipes and thinking about what our customers would want to eat for Christmas lunch or dinner – but with a modern spin on it.
Do you have a favourite menu item?
The eye fillet beef wellington is my favourite, there’s lot of components that make this a soulful meal.
Will you be enjoying your own Christmas in July with friends and family?
For sure! There’s a different vibe when we do Christmas in winter. The food is hearty and filling – I’m looking forward to cooking it but also enjoying it with my friends and family.
What about the ‘real’ Christmas – what does the perfect day look like for you?
For me, it is a day spent with my loved ones, getting presents for everyone and of course the amazing food!
And finally, if you could only eat one thing from our Christmas in July menu for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Sticky date pudding, because stressed spelled backwards is desserts 🙂 and our sticky date pudding is one of the best ones around!
